Gordon Murray Design and its consortium
partners Delta Motorsport and itMoves are set to unveil
‘MOTIV’, a unique and extremely versatile autonomous
vehicle platform at the MOVE 2020 show in London. Part-funded through
the UK-government’s ‘IDP14’ programme, the new
platform breaks the mould for future mobility development by creating
a cost-effective, ultra-lightweight quadricycle vehicle platform

Systems, methods, and apparatuses described
herein are directed to performing segmentation on voxels representing
three-dimensional data to identify static and dynamic objects. LIDAR
data may be captured by a perception system for an autonomous vehicle
and represented in a voxel space. Operations may include determining
a drivable surface by parsing individual voxels to determine an
orientation of a surface normal of a planar approximation of the
voxelized data relative to a reference direction. Clustering
techniques can be used to grow a ground plane including a plurality
of locally flat voxels. Ground plane data can be set aside from the
voxel space, and the remaining voxels can be clustered to determine
objects. Voxel data can be analyzed over time to determine dynamic
objects. Segmentation information associated with ground voxels,
static object, and dynamic objects can be provided to a tracker
and/or planner in conjunction with operating the autonomous
vehicle.

temporelle.Une méthodologie d'analyse utilisant ces
propriétés est présentée.On propose
MAPTs (Multi-Agent with timed Periodic Tasks), qui a

Highlights Key design recommendations
derived from applying the Perceptual Cycle Model (PCM) to
semi-autonomous vehicles. Verbal Protocol analysis extends the PCM
method to include recursive thinking. • Case studies in
semi-autonomous vehicles through the lens of ‘World’,
‘Schema’ and ‘Action’ reveal the power of the
PCM. Abstract Semi-autonomous cars are already on the road and highly
autonomous cars will soon be with us. Little is understood about how
drivers will adapt to the changing relationship with their vehicle,
but to ensure safety and consumer acceptance, this insight is vital.
To this end, an on-road study in a semi-autonomous vehicle was
undertaken with six UK drivers. The ‘think aloud’
technique was employed and video and audio footage of their
interaction with the vehicle was captured. Neisser's (1976)
Perceptual Cycle Model (PCM) was used to analyse the data and three
case studies are presented to highlight how poor synergy between
driver and semi-autonomous vehicles can occur from the lens of
Schema, Action or World information. Seven key design considerations
are proposed to ensure a more positive and safer interaction between
driver and autonomous vehicle to guide focus by manufacturers.
Further evidence for the existence of a ‘counter cycle’
(Plant and Stanton, 2015) within the PCM is found and how this
relates to the challenges of using verbal protocals expressed during
a fast moving dynamic task is discussed.

With the potential of increasing mobility
and reducing cost, shared mobility of autonomous vehicles (AVs) is
going to gain solid growth in the coming decade. The major issue for
the shared use of AVs is how to project serving routes in an
efficiently way. From another perspective, this issue could be
understood as to segment maximum number of passengers into groups.
Therefore, this paper intends to investigate passengers’
similarity instead of directly matching AVs and passengers. The goal
is to determine the minimum number of groups and assign each group
with an AV. To this end, a cluster-based algorithm is proposed to
classify passengers. Numerical experiments with both small-size and
large-size demands are performed to present the validity of the
proposed algorithm. Results indicate that the cluster-based algorithm
could bring benefit to minimizing the number of vehicles and total
travel distance. At last, sensitivity analysis of key parameters
shows that vehicle capacity will have little impact when the number
of seats exceeds four, and time windows could make continuous
influence on gathering passengers.
