NewSkin Open Innovation Test Bed Team

NewSkin is a H2020 funded Open Innovation Test Bed (OITB), which aims to support the development and market acceleration of new surface & membrane functionalisation by nanotechnologies, generating a wide range of enhanced surface properties for commercial and personal products in different sectors.

NewSkin test bed offers users open access to state-of-the-art facilities for adding, upscaling, characterising and/or accelerated rigorous testing of, advanced high performance surface functionality functionality (such as anti-fouling, anti-corrosive, anti-icing, anti-microbial, anti-friction, and hard-wearing) to surfaces through nanotechnologies

NewSkin services will accelerate the use of nanotechnologies in Europe and bring new functionalities and better performances and higher efficiencies to a range of commercial and personal products. Resulting solutions will advance materials durability and utility for a range of applications including water-treatment, renewables, packaging, prosthesis, optics, electronics and tribological applications. Bringing fuel savings in transport, efficiencies in pumps, turbines, solar panels, steel construction and more, NewSkin outputs will impact society and key industrial sectors and aid the EU green transition.

IndTech 2022 – OITB village
The NewSkin OITB team hosted a booth and presented at the IndTech2022 OITB village – where conference delegates could come to chat to the team, and attend talks to learn more about the NewSkin, and other, Open Innovation Test Beds (OITBs) offerings. There was keen interest in how SMEs, research centres, and industry could gain free access to these high-tech facilities. Our team also took the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with the other OITBs present.
